Educators at the Festival
RepRapUA is not only booths and machines. It is also the place where someone sees a part being printed for the very first time. This year the festival takes place in a virtual world, so you can teach from your classroom, your lab, or your home — and the group comes from anywhere, not only from the city that hosts the hall.
Formats
Workshop in a hall
45 to 60 minutes with a group in a festival hall: you share your screen and lead them step by step — model it, prepare it for printing, save the file. Everyone works on their own computer.
Demo with a printer
A camera on the printer and your voice: you show the process from your own classroom — how a print starts, what the first layer looks like, why a part came loose. Questions by voice or in the chat.
Lecture for teachers
How to bring 3D printing into a school or a club: equipment, safety, curriculum, and common pitfalls. Slides go through screen sharing.
What to include in your application
- Topic and format: a workshop, a demo with a printer, or a lecture.
- Audience and age of participants, and how many people at a time.
- Duration, and how many times you are ready to repeat it during the day.
- What you will show on screen: software, slides, a camera on the printer.
- What participants need on their side: a browser, free software, a printed template — anything the session does not work without.
- What you need from us: a slot in the schedule, a hall, a rehearsal, a moderator for the chat.
On your side you need a computer, Chrome or Firefox, and a microphone; a camera if you show the printer or yourself. A few days before the festival we hold a rehearsal: you enter the hall and check the sound and the screen sharing.
Teaching experience is not required — we will help you build the session plan.
